1. Trim and balance foot as normal and shape shoe as required.
NB Do not remove adhesive tape until pad has been cut to shape and the shoe cleaned.
2. Place shoe on pad. Trace around shoe to identify excess material. Trim excess with scissors.
Leave approx 2mm overhang. This will give some tolerance when placing pad on shoe.
Excess can be rasped off when clinching and dressing the foot
3. Hoof pad adheres to foot bearing surface of shoe:
STEEL SHOE Remove scale from bearing surface, with use of sand paper.
ALUMINIUM SHOE Lightly sand the bearing surface to remove the oxide from the shoe.
Furlong Performance recommends the purchase of a ‘clean and strip pad’ available on request.
NB Pay special attention heel areas for both steel and aluminium shoes.
4. Remove protective film from double sided tape and place the sticky side on the clean shoe. Press down firmly over the surface of the pad.
NB For maximum adhesion the shoe must be clean dry
and free from oil, grease and dust
5. Nail shoe to hoof as normal.
